Inspired by the rhythms and colours of Morocco and the artist Sonia Delaunay, the current Summer collection by the Berlin-based high fashion children’s wear brand Elfen Couture, pays homage to "movement". Flowing materials in colours and prints reminiscent of Africa and Op-Art contrasts typical of Sonia Delaunay’s work combined with surprising cuts andd effects, all go towards interpreting this collection’s theme in a light and also moving manner.
Swinging Kaftan dresses Souad, Johaina and Nalan – one is finished in elegant Crêpe de Chine with sequins,
another is made from light Viscose with elaborate fastening details or a Swarovski crystal shoulder detail – are a relaxed reminder of the easygoing Hippy lifestyle in Marrakech during the 1970s. Icons of this era, such as Talitha Getty have given their name and provided inspiration: Talitha, the soft cream & rose coloured 70s style mini dress made from the finest Crêpe de Chine, can also be worn as a shirt. Also clearly taking their style cue from the 70s, the double-layered flared trousers Sukeina in cream & pink, with a matching top Amina; or the emerald green flared trousers Nadia, made from raw silk with a linen-weave and the matching top Talia, finished in the finest Crêpe Georgette with generous pleats around the neckline.
